Hybrid Blindfold Simul
When every piece looks the same

Eight boards, identical pieces.
Chess reduced to structure, memory, and logic.

A live event that makes thinking visible

Hybrid blindfold simul with eight boards

Eight opponents, eight boards, eight games played simultaneously.
The opponents see everything. The simultaneous player sees only an abstract representation instead of pieces.
To win, he must rely entirely on his memory.

Simultaneous. Live. Comprehensible.

All games are presented to the audience in real time on monitors and, if desired, online.
Every move, every decision, every turning point can be experienced immediately.

Experiencing simultaneity

Multiple games, one room, constant movement.
Pace, tension and concentration define the event.
A live experience driven by focus and intensity.

The power of memory

More than a classical simultaneous exhibition

A traditional simultaneous exhibition shows many games at the same time.
The hybrid blindfold simul shows how thinking and memory function under pressure.

The simultaneous player sees no pieces, no types, no patterns.
Each game exists only as abstract information – and must remain accessible at all times. Even under time pressure, as the clock keeps ticking relentlessly.

A format that makes the invisible visible

There is no order of decisions here.
Without visual control, only memory remains.
Structure matters more than patterns.

Ideal for clubs – appealing to companies

As a club event, it is a rare and demanding experience.
As a corporate event, it becomes a compelling way to approach topics such as concentration, decision-making and mental resilience.

This is how the blindfold simultaneous player perceives the positions on all boards – no pieces, only uniform, shapeless stones.

A clear core. Flexible options.

The core concept

Eight opponents play simultaneously on eight boards. The format is rapid chess, with only 15 minutes allotted for each game.

The simultaneous player sees and plays all eight games in parallel.
However, not as pieces, but only as uniform black and white stones.

Which piece occupies which square exists solely in his memory.
Every decision depends on having all positions correctly present at all times.

For chess clubs

After the simul, the chess-related aspect takes centre stage.

  • Analysis of selected games
  • Insight into memory strategies and thought processes
  • Clear and accessible explanations of critical decisions
  • Interaction with players and the audience (e.g. informal blindfold blitz games)

For companies

Here, the simul becomes the foundation for a content-driven talk on the following topics:

  • Memory and mnemonic techniques
  • Concentration and thinking under time pressure and strain
  • Dealing with complexity and information density
  • Practical examples, presented clearly and without requiring any chess knowledge

Interested in this format?

The hybrid blindfold simul is suitable as an exceptional club event
or as a distinctive corporate event with substantive added value.

Format, framework and optional extensions are tailored individually to your needs.
